How it Works
Privacy-Focused Architecture
DriveLens is designed with a "Privacy First" philosophy. Unlike many other storage analysis tools, all heavy lifting happens directly in your browser. We never transmit your file list, folder structure, or data to any external server.
Browser-Side Metadata Analysis
When you run an analysis, DriveLens requests read-only metadata from the Google Drive API. We only look at file names and sizes to calculate which folders are taking up the most space.
Critically, we never access the actual contents of your files (images, documents, videos). Your data stays exactly where it belongs: in your Google Drive.
Secure Authentication
We use Google Identity Services for authentication. This ensures that DriveLens only receives a private access token with the narrowest possible permissions (metadata-only). Our servers never see your files and you can revoke access at any time through your Google Account settings.
Who Uses DriveLens?
Photographers & Videographers
Photographers, videographers, and advanced cloud storage users rely on DriveLens to manage & optimize their cloud storage on Google Drive. When managing terabytes of raw footage or high-resolution assets, it's easy for forgotten project folders or duplicate backups to consume expensive storage. DriveLens provides the clarity needed to prune data without the fear of privacy leaks.
Everyday Home Users
Home users nearing their 15GB free limit use DriveLens to quickly identify "space hogs." Whether it's an old shared folder from a school project or a hidden backup from a previous mobile device, DriveLens makes it simple to see exactly where your storage is going, helping you avoid unnecessary monthly subscription fees.
